The door bell rang and there they were. My Alecto FR-68 Walkie Talkies. I did the unboxing with my oldest son who could not wait to try them.

But first some specifications:

  • 8 channels, 38 CTCSS and 83 DSC sub channels (what ever that may be)
  • LCD Display
  • Ten call signs
  • Digital volume adjustment
  • VOX
  • Standby time: 12 hours
  • Talk time: 0,5 hour
  • Range: 3 kilometers
  • A charger with two USB cables attached for charging them

The latter one is rather cool, never seen that before. You van order any color you like, as long as it is yellow. I paid 50 Euros.

Personal experience

These are very good to use. In a crowded city we were able to talk within the 3 kilometer range. Not bad for such small devices with only 0,5 Watt sending power. The speaker is a bit too small, so it is not always easy to understand what is said on the other side.

The roger beep is rather cool en you can page your counterpart with nerve breaking call signs.

And they do not disrupt TV signals, so you keep your neighbors happy.

Conclusion

A must have.

When driving with two cars to your holiday destination these will save you a lot of money for not having to use cell phones.

And they are fun and cheap. And that was my reason to buy them.
