Alice in Wonderland
Lewis Caroll wrote the book Alice's adventures in Wonderland in 1865(!). The book is better known as Alice in Wonderland. I looked it up on Wikipedia, I must admit.
I have only read the book once. And I must have been about ten or eleven years old. I still have the strangest pictures in my head that my brains formed when reading the book. As Chesire Cat says "We're all mad here". And that is how I feel when I try to remember the things I read about 30 years ago. The whole book is about madness. Nothing is at is seems.
And now there this movie. And in 3D no less. It already did 116 million Dollar in the first couple of days. So I guess it must be good.
However, the question I always ask myself before buying a ticket to a movie that is based on a book is: do I want my own imagination to be distorted by watching the movie. And most of the time my answer to this question is "yes!". As it was with Lord of the Rings, that I enjoyed very much.
But in this case I think I do want to keep my childhood memories and do not want them to be rewritten by this movie. So I am not going to watch it! I want to keep the memories about complete madness that I have now. Perhaps that is mad?
Tell about your opinion on watching movies based on (famous) books!
